The plans for the upcoming .Net standard 2.1 has arrived. We have been on 2.0 for quite some time now. However it seems that this will be a smaller increment - which is what they wish state by calling it 2.1:

Something that is really confusing to me is that it seems that .Net core 2.1 and .Net standard 2.1 will not be compatible. At least that is how I read the above post. This is meant to underline that .Net core and .Net Framework are versioned independently, them both being at 2.1 is random.
